June 2 - Jun 18

So! Less than 5 weeks to go! Are you all as excited as we are? Here's the latest update. There aren't as many photos as we normally have, but I'm sure you'll enjoy them!

We have a new pilot, who will be replacing Steve "Frenchy" Hainse. Chris Hollett arrived in Oslo on Saturday, so we don't have any juicy dirt on him yet... but wait for Kiel, and I'm sure I can fill you in on all the gossip!

Liqwud Dwayno poses with the Air StewardsDo a little dance, toss a little salad...I have no idea what Frenchy is doing...

Mark tries to look cool in this shot by doing the "Cocktail" toss of the utensils, and misserably fails...

The Air Crew cooked for all the ship's officers while we were all at sea. We turned the Wardroom into Chez Zoomie, with Sarah, Luke, Dwayne, Jason, and Barry as waiters, and Dave, Steve, and Mark as the chefs. It was a great time, and it gave our regular stewards the evening off, so they also appreciated it!

Don gets the pie... while Dave reminds me of Nelson from the SimpsonsDon gets the pie
I'd have to say, we're probably the most mischievous department on the ship! Don Thompson had the lucky fortune of celebrating his birthday while we were at sea.

Frenchy hogtiedHe has no idea what he's gonna getwoah! that's a sea state!
Frenchy looks defeated... poor boy!Have a good one pal!A smiling Frenchy
This was our official send off for Frenchy (all the other sendoffs were just excuses to get someone soaked with the hose). The boys taped him to a chair, chained the chair to the deck, and proceeded to completely soak him with a salt water fire fighter hose! I think just about every person on the det got him with the hose, and even a few of the Navy types got in on the action! Trust me, the water was not very warm... You're a good sport, Steve, we'll miss having you on the det! (the top right photo is animated)

StalkerA russian kilo class sub
Saipem 7000
Here's another nice photo of Stalker (I liked the clouds in the background), a Russian Kilo Class Diesel submarine, and the Huge Saipem 7000 floating mobile crane. The submarine was transiting on the surface from England back to Russia, and Saipem 7000 was in Stavanger. Saipem was in Halifax during the Swiss air incident in 1998. Each crane can lift near 5000 tonnes!

Here are some photos of an evolution we call a "Double Lift". One of the navigators (in this case, it's Sarah) is hoisted down to the ship, hooks the second person onto the hoist, and both are brought up together.
