Bermuda was great! The time of year made it just warm enough for us 'Northerners' to find climate just perfect. I went for a swim at this tiny beach called Whale Bay Cove. The water was a balmy 20 degrees Celcius! Many of the guys managed to get out and see the sights and sounds of the tiny island, both by bicycle and by moped. Imagine Bucky on a moped! Kind of like André the Giant on a tricycle! We all had a great time. I was amazed by how personable the people of the island were. There wasn't a person who walked by who didn't say 'Hello' or 'How're ya doin' lad?'

So since our helo was broken we've all been cooped up in the classroom listening to lectures or on the flight deck painting the ship...

What a life! I think Brad has found a new calling!

Chief, put that thing away!

(run Bucky, run!)

And Barry's in the lead!! Sheets coming up for a close second.... ......zzzzzzz........zzzzzzzz.......oh and there's Dave now!!!

Running on the Flight Deck... gets boring after a while.

On Easter Sunday we had a golf tournament, and a skeet shoot. Steve Dawson, the Chief, myself, Bucky, and Neil all shot for the Air Det. The Chief came in second place!

Some of you may not be aware of the constant battle we fight with the fishheads over our work schedule. In short, they don't think we have one. Saturday was scraping and painting day on the Freddy.  While we were awaiting our turn to use the grinders, Dave Stephan (henceforth to be known as 'Net Boy') thought it would be a good idea to seek the bridge's approval to lie in the flight deck netting in order to catch some rays. The next sound to be heard on ship was the PA system:  'Captain Keddy, required, bridge.' Apparently  the ship's captain didn't think much of Net Boy's intentions while the rest of the ship was up to its elbows in paint. Score: Commanding Officer 1, Air Officer 0.

Net Boy relaxing... hey Dave, does the CO know?

Ok, maybe this warrants some explanation. When we practice for emergency drills on the ship, we have to don protective clothing and go to a particular area of the ship. For the Air Department, we go to the hangar, just in case we have to launch the helicopter to aid in the emergency. The protective clothing you see Paul, Gilles, and Bucky wearing is designed to protect their skin from burns if there was a fire.
